2. Data Collected

We collect personal data in the following circumstances:

• Order and checkout forms: first name, last name, email address, phone number, country, and billing information required to process payment through Stripe.
• Contact form: name, email address, and any information you include in your message.
• Documents submitted for translation: the content of documents you provide for our services, which may contain personal or sensitive information. These are handled under strict confidentiality and are not processed for any purpose other than the service requested.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source, and time of access, collected via server logs and cookies.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal data on the following legal bases under Article 6 of the GDPR:

• Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): Processing necessary to provide the translation services you have ordered.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): Processing required to comply with Italian tax, invoicing, and commercial law.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Maintaining security of our systems, preventing fraud, and improving our services.

5. Payment Processing via Stripe

Payment processing is handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (SPEL), a licensed e-money institution authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland. When you proceed to payment, you are redirected to Stripe’s secure checkout at checkout.stripe.com. BarkTranslate does not store, process, or have access to your card details. 6. Document Confidentiality

Documents you submit for translation are treated as strictly confidential. They are shared only with the translator assigned to your project, who has signed a project-specific NDA. Documents are stored on secure, non-cloud systems. Original files are deleted within 30 days of project delivery unless a longer retention period is agreed in writing.

7. Data Retention

Personal data associated with orders is retained for 10 years from the date of the transaction, in accordance with Italian civil and tax law requirements (Decreto Legislativo 196/2003 as amended by D.Lgs. 101/2018, and relevant provisions of the Codice Civile). Contact form data is retained for up to 12 months unless a project relationship develops, in which case order retention periods apply.

As a data subject under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
